Prayer Request

Thank you all for your patience and support. Every one of you has been so encouraging to me. Your prayers and comments mean so much to me. Today I have a prayer request for someone else.

One of my best friends has had cancer for 3 years. I asked her if it was okay to share what's going on and ask for prayers and she said yes. She was diagnosed with cancer right after I was diagnosed with Lyme. We didn't really know each other before we both got sick, but since then have been best friends. The cancer came back a year and a half ago so they've been dealing with that. A couple weeks ago she started having back and neck pain so they scheduled a pet scan. She was admitted to the hospital on Sunday to get the pain under control. On Tuesday they got the results. The tumors have spread. She got to come home on Tuesday after her appointment with the doctor. She is doing radiation for two weeks with the hope that it will help the pain. They are doing everything they can to make sure she is not in pain. I ask that you please pray for her and her family. Please pray that she doesn't hurt. Please pray for peace and comfort. Please pray for God's healing hand.

She is such a blessing to me. Even though we don't have the same disease, we understand what each other is going through. I love that we don't have to entertain each other. For example, last night I went over to hang out with her. We were watching a movie and both of us fell asleep on and off. I'm pretty sure we didn't talk for at least an hour. That's the best kind of friendship you can have. We can talk about anything, but can also just be.

I love how verses in the Bible still apply to us today. Most books written are outdated not too long after they are written. "but the word of the Lord stands forever." 1 Peter 1:25

This verse describes perfectly what is going on right now.

"For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” 2 Chronicles 20:12

Then a few verses down it says,

"Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s." 2 Chronicles 20:15

On my birthday last year. Rebecca is on the top right.
If you would like to send her an encouraging note, just comment on here and I'll get them to her!

Thank you so much.

  1. I just prayed for Rebecca :)

These two songs have been encouraging me a lot lately, so I wanted to share them with you and Rebecca:

Aaron Shust - Rest in the Arms
    Building 429 - Because You're Mine

  2. I am praying for you both!! Rebecca doesn't know me but I've seen her name on the prayer list and we've prayed for her, although I didn't remember that it had been 3 years. We will pray for peace, comfort and God's healing hand. I'm thankful that you two are friends.

  3. Praying for you both. Rebecca I don't know you apart from what Victoria's said here, but what I do know of both of you is that you are strong, amazing women of God and I am inspired by both of you. I'm thankful for your friendship with each other and for what is shared here.

Lots of love to both of you ♥

  4. Things like this are so difficult. It's impossible to really know what to say. So I'll go to scripture for something. I am reminded of Job's friends (before they started talking and ruined the effect). They get a bad rap, and largely for good reason. But I do appreciate what Job 2:11-13 tells us about them. "Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they came each one from his own place... and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and comfort him. When they lifted up their eyes at a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky. Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great."

I never really thought about that section before I went through a very difficult experience (nothing, by the way, compared to either of your situations), and there were some friends who did for me what Job's friends did here. They went to some effort to make themselves available to me. They cried with me. They didn't even talk much about the situation. Because sometimes... there are no words. But the presence of a friend can count for a lot.

Neither of you know me, and I doubt you'd want me randomly showing up to sit with you. But know that our family is praying for you both, and have been for a long time. I am glad you have each other. I also appreciate your example. (Rebecca, I was so glad to see you in worship this morning. SO brave!) You are both cherished Sisters.
